Hi everyone! Maybe you've heard of "National Elephant Day" on September 22 (coming up soon!), which I think is great. But have you really ever seen anyone do anything on September 22nd for the elephants other than an Instagram post? I haven't. Which is why I think there should be a new holiday-- Love the Elephants day.
On Love the Elephants day, everyone celebrating will instead of taking a picture offline of an elephant, will take a picture of an elephant at the zoo, or even a household object that resembles an elephant. Then when they post the picture, they will write at least a couple sentences about elephant poaching, elephant cruelty, or any matter that has to do with elephants that they think is important. Then they will share the picture with the hashtag #LoveTheElephantsDay and encourage everyone to donate to an elephant charity.
Here are some pictures under the hashtag #nationalelephantday. As I looked at their captions, no one really had put much thought into the photo or explained anything about the possible upcoming elephant extinction, although the user who posted the bottom left photo had made a clay photo just for the holiday, which I thought was very nice. I'm sure the Instagram users who posted the photos do love elephants and care about how endangered they are, so that's why I think #LoveTheElephantsDay will be even better! I have decided it will be on November 19th, so mark your calendars!
